Imagine- your feet on a wild mountain trail breathing in fresh oxygen and beauty that come in the form of views, sounds and smells.. walking through the majesty of the wild mountain lakes and grandiose landscape when, after a long day outside you sleep in a secluded and authentic historical mountain hotel. A history of almost 1 hundred years and unspoilt nature.

Welcome to 3 day trekking and nature experience in the Engadin, Switzerland.

Designed for the medium level hikers and anyone who would like to discover mountain in a safe but wild environment. Every day you will hike for 4-5 hours with a stable pace, taking time for being, immersing into incredible views and enjoying group spirit.

Stretching for 80 kilometers at an altitude of around 1800 meters, the Engadine Valley (divided into the Upper and Lower Engadine) is one of the highest inhabited valleys in Europe. The Inn river, which has the source here, gave the region its name: in the native language "Rumantsch", Engaiadina means " Garden of the Inn". It is no coincidence that the alpine scenery with an average of 322 days of sun a year, which is often called "nature's treasure chamber". This favored region lies at the foot of the impressive Bernina Massif with its Piz Bernina reaching 4049 meters and sourrounding by several mountains over 3500 meters. The well-hidden Fex Valley is a tributary valleywhich is 200 meters higher then the main valley. The Hotel Fex is one of the highest in Swizerland.

Day 1: 800 m +, 700m-, 9km

Day 2: surprise- according the level of the group

Day 3: 650-800m+, 800m-, 9km

the iconic Hotel in Val Fex

Unspoiled nature and tranquility is what you'll discover. The Fex Valley is a tributary valley of the Upper Engadine and streches for a total lenght of 10 kilometers off the small town of Sils. Hotel Fex is situated six kilometers up the valley. It is the last house, except of a neighboring farm. Since 1954 there is a nature and landscape protection. The government plan the development of the entire valley., therefor you cannot find any constructions that destroy the original charm. Only the local residents drive by car.

An alpine hotel with its impressive past: Hotel Fex is a tresure of alpine tourism. It was built in the 1850s and was originally part of the health spa complex in St. Moritz. Around 1900 it was taken apart and transported piece by piece to the Fex valley by horse-drawn vehicles and reconstructed on its present beautiful place. For 60 years the Hotel Fex was posession of the same family. In May 2010 Dr. Marc and Lotte Bär-Schilder bought it and they want to keep it a traditional house. In the next few years slightly renovations are planned. After the restore the Hotel Fex become its former glory.

Logistics details:

Need to be in Julier Pass (Julier, La Veduta) by 11.23 am on October 4th, 2024, we will finish on October 6th at 4pm at Sils Maria village.

Combinable with more extensive travels in Switzerland – advice available upon request.

Ruta has done her first hike back in 2013- she then realized that the real life is not happening in the indoor- office environment but rather outside.

This made her realize that she was missing something important in her life- connection with Nature. Since then, most of her time she spends outside- climbing, hiking, wild camping, walking in the forests, parks and other natural places. She has become hiking ‚guru‘ and is now passionate to share the most beautiful places in the Swiss Alps with the others. During her outings she invites participants to experience nature differently: through mindfulness, nature connection practices & human element.

Retreat participants often say that Ruta's passion for Nature is contagious.

Ruta is a professional mountain leader ( Association of Mountain Guides in Switzerland), neuro-coach (Neuroleadership Institute, London), and forest therapy guide (Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, USA).

By creating Be Outside Coaching movement, she has connected her 2 major passions: activities outside and human development. Be Outside Coaching delivers immersive and holistic Nature experiences in the different corners of the Swiss Alps.
