January 17-19th, 2025 engadine

"To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold."

Snow shoeing in the region of Engadine means immersing yourself into wild landscapes, getting to know local life and enjoy local food.

Submerge into the Swiss back country life, wilderness, allow yourself to get away from the hustle & bustle - join us to experience awe and adventure during this 3 day experience at a very special and historical place.

We will walk for 4-5 hours every day snow shoeing and enjoying wild landscapes. Each day we will make 5-8km with 400-600m+ of elevation gain. This experience is suitable for medium level hikers or beginners with good fitness condition. But as always in those trips- mindset and motivation are the most important elements.

Welcome to a winter fairy tale!

Guarda

The Schellenursli Village, Guarda, is located at 1653 meters in the Lower Engadine on a south-facing sun terrace. In winter off beaten snow shoeing paths lead from the village into the scenic countryside. The houses of the Engadine village have beautifully painted facades from the first half of the 17th century. Travelling to Guarda is like travelling back in times: seclusion, history and local life style is omni present.

an exceptional place to stay

In the middle of the historic village of Guarda you find the traditional Hotel Meisser - a jewel of the Engadine mountains. The typical Engadine house from the 17th century has been managed by the Meisser family since 1893. Here you are welcomed by individually designed rooms in alpine style. Traditional and fragrant pine wood combined with natural materials, stylish refuges with antique charm and loving details. The Hotel Meisser has a historical dining room, a panoramic restaurant where healthy, light and seasonal dishes are served. The large hotel garden, which invites you to relax and enjoy, and the Stüvetta lounge with a small library and fireplace complete the offer.

About the Outing Leader

IMG_20210121_164209 (1).jpg
Ruta, mountain leader, nature therapy guide & coach

Ruta did her first hike back in 2013- she then realized that the real life is not happening in the indoor- office environment but rather outside.

This made her realize that she was missing something important in her life- connection with Nature. Since then, most of her time she spends outside- climbing, hiking, wild camping, walking in the forests, parks and other natural places. She has become hiking ‚guru‘ and is now passionate to share the most beautiful places in the Swiss Alps with the others. Retreat participants often say that Ruta's passion for Nature is contagious.

Ruta is a professional mountain leader ( Association of Mountain Guides in Switzerland), neuro-coach (Neuroleadership Institute, London), and forest therapy guide (Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, USA).

By creating Be Outside Coaching movement, she has connected her 2 major passions: activities outside and human development. Be Outside Coaching delivers immersive and holistic Nature experiences in the different corners of pristine the Swiss Alps.
